Kickboxing Fans Brace for Electrifying K-1 MAX 2024 Tournament

The highly anticipated K-1 MAX 2024 tournament has unveiled its initial 12 participants, promising an electrifying clash of established stars and rising talents from across the globe. Curated by the experienced trio of Carlos Kikuta, Mitsuru Miyata, and Kazuyoshi Ishii, the tournament is set to captivate kickboxing enthusiasts with its blend of expected and unexpected contenders.

Among the more well-known names included in the lineup are the current K-1 Super Welterweight (-70 KG) champion Ouyang Feng, former K-1 titleholder Hiromi Wajima, former GLORY Lightweight king Davit Kiria, and the reigning Krush Super Welterweight champion Jordann Pikeur. The inclusion of one-time GLORY Lightweight title challenger Stoyan Koprivlenski further suggests the temporary disbandment of the promotion’s Lightweight division.

Joining the familiar faces are standout talents from the Russian kickboxing scene, Zhora Akopyan and Vasili Semenov, as well as Pascal Schroth, Darryl Verdonk, Umar Semata, Taras Hnatchuk, and Dengue Silva, all poised to make their mark on the tournament.

“The remaining four participants are yet to be announced, but Krush producer Mitsuru Miyata and K-1 advisor Kazuyoshi Ishii have hinted at the potential inclusion of Kaito Ono, Masaaki Noiri, and an unnamed Thai fighter, further adding to the anticipation.”

Alongside the tournament, several K-1 champions will defend their titles, and a series of ‘K-1 vs. RISE‘ and ‘K-1 vs. The World‘ themed bouts are also scheduled. While broadcast details are still to be confirmed, K-1 commentator Michael Schiavello has teased the possibility of an English-language stream for global fans.

As the countdown to the K-1 MAX 2024 tournament continues, kickboxing enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the thrilling showdown that will unfold on March 20, with both expected and unexpected talents set to captivate audiences from all corners of the world.
