ONE Friday Fights 58: Superbon vs. Grigorian Trilogy Bout for Interim Featherweight Title
Superbon and Grigorian Set for Trilogy Fight at ONE Friday Fights 58
In a highly anticipated trilogy bout, former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn is set to face off against long-standing rival Marat Grigorian at ONE Friday Fights 58 on April 5th. The two will compete for the Interim ONE Featherweight title, adding another chapter to their storied rivalry.
The announcement of an interim title match comes amidst ongoing contract disputes between ONE Championship and the current Featherweight Kickboxing Champion, Chingiz Allazov. The Azerbaijani-Belarusian fighter has expressed grievances with the restrictive terms in ONE’s contracts and has intentions to continue his career in Belarus, Russia, and Azerbaijan.
“Superbon and Grigorian last met in the finals of the Kunlun Fight 69 World MAX tournament in 2018, where Grigorian secured a knockout victory in less than a minute. However, the tables turned in their second encounter at ONE: X in 2022, with Superbon earning a wide unanimous decision win to defend his ONE Featherweight title.”
Heading into the trilogy bout, Grigorian comes off a decisive third-round knockout over his long-time rival, Sitthichai, in January. Meanwhile, Superbon’s last outing saw him come up short in a close unanimous decision loss against the Muay Thai phenom Tawanchai, in his bid for the ONE Featherweight Muay Thai title.
The highly anticipated clash between Superbon and Grigorian will take place at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. Whether the event will be made available for purchase, similar to ONE’s recent marquee event, is yet to be officially announced.
