ONE Kickboxing Title Controversy: Prajanchai Edges Out Di Bella in Thrilling Battle

Bangkok, June 28, 2024 – The recent ONE Lumpinee event held at the sold-out Impact Arena in Bangkok witnessed a highly anticipated kickboxing clash between ONE Strawweight Muay Thai Champion Prajanchai and former ONE Strawweight Kickboxing Champion Jonathan Di Bella.

Though undefeated in kickboxing and making his second appearance in the discipline, the Italian-Canadian fighter Di Bella entered the fight as the underdog against the seasoned Prajanchai. However, Di Bella proved his mettle in the early rounds, showcasing his clean and fast boxing combinations to take the lead.

As the fight progressed, Prajanchai found his rhythm and began to dominate with his powerful kicks and knees, particularly in the championship rounds. The third round was the most closely contested, with both fighters leaving it all in the ring.

“Despite Di Bella’s impressive performance, the judges ultimately scored the fight in favor of Prajanchai, with two judges awarding him four rounds and all three scoring the bout to the now two-sport champion. This controversial decision prompted a public statement from ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong, who expressed his disagreement with the outcome, hinting at a potential rematch in the near future.”

Regardless of the judges’ verdict, Jonathan Di Bella has proven himself to be a top-level fighter with a bright future in the sport.
