Superbon Claims Interim Featherweight Kickboxing Title at ONE Friday Fights 58
ONE Championship Crowns Superbon as Interim Featherweight Kickboxing Champion
On April 5th, 2024, ONE Championship returned to the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand for their latest “tentpole” event, ONE Friday Fights 58: Superbon vs. Grigorian III. The main event featured a closely contested world title clash between the reigning Featherweight Kickboxing champion Superbon and the challenger Marat Grigorian.
In a rematch of their previous two encounters, Superbon edged out Grigorian in a unanimous decision to claim the interim Featherweight Kickboxing title. With the reigning champion Chingiz Allazov currently sidelined negotiating a new contract, the stage was set for Superbon and Grigorian to clash once again.
Grigorian came out with a renewed sense of urgency, successfully closing the distance and landing vicious uppercuts on the inside, which visibly bothered the Thai champion. However, Superbon remained composed, firing off thudding kicks to Grigorian’s midsection that went largely undefended.
As the fight progressed, Superbon seemed to find a second wind, fending off Grigorian’s relentless pressure with lunging knees and kicks. After five grueling rounds, the judges unanimously declared Superbon the winner, awarding him the interim Featherweight Kickboxing title.
In the co-main event, Zhang Peimian made a successful kickboxing debut, defeating the previously undefeated Aliff Sor Dechapan via unanimous decision. Peimian’s constant pressure and a barrage of body shots proved too much for the Thai fighter to handle, putting the Strawweight division on notice.
ONE Friday Fights 58 delivered another evening of thrilling kickboxing action, cementing Superbon’s status as one of the premier Featherweight talents in the sport.
