Kickboxing Legend Giorgio Petrosyan Announces Comeback Fight
On May 18th, the renowned kickboxing legend Giorgio Petrosyan will make his highly anticipated return to professional competition. Petrosyan, often regarded as the greatest kickboxer in the sport’s history, will face off against the reigning WAKO-Pro World Super Welterweight (-69.1 KG) champion, Sergio “Dinamita” Sanchez, at the Petrosyanmania event.
Petrosyan was last seen in action on April 20, 2022, when he secured a second-round stoppage victory over Fatih Aydin, a bounce-back fight following an upset loss to Superbon Banchamek. That defeat, only the third of Petrosyan’s professional career, ended his impressive 8-year undefeated streak and prompted the 38-year-old to contemplate retirement.
“I was not satisfied with my performance in the Superbon fight, and I knew I had to make some changes to regain my form,” Petrosyan said. “This matchup against Sergio Sanchez is the perfect opportunity to show that I still have what it takes to be the best in the world.”
Sergio Sanchez, on the other hand, has been on the rise, earning the biggest win of his career this past November. He defeated Giorgio’s brother, Armen Petrosyan, to claim the vacant WAKO-Pro championship. Sanchez will now look to add another prestigious scalp to his record as he faces the legendary Giorgio Petrosyan.
